Activities: The group provides information about the development
of scientific research in the field of retinal degenerative diseases,
through newsletter, lectures, annual conferences. It maintains close contact
with medical associations such as the Brazilian Ophthalmology society
and Retina & Vitreous Society as well as with Retina Departments in
several Universities. We try to develop public awareness around people
with retinal dystrophies, through campaigns by press and radio, supported
by local health authorities.

Activities: The Instituto Benjamin Constant is a National Reference
Center for the blind and an organisation of the Brazilian Education Ministry.
It has a pre and elementary school, the largest Braille press center,

Activities: The Institue supports children between 5 and 18 years
of age in a boarding school-type regime and offers special education which
includes accompanying children in mainstream schools. Further services
include: medical; dental; psychological physiotherapy and occupational
therapy guidance and mobility sports music craft workshop where small
items using wood, plastic, rope and paper are made thereby developing
motor co-ordination in the children's choir.
