Activities: The Association has a Braille publishing and printing house with approximately
500 titles (fiction, non-fiction and school books), a special press for all kinds of Braille printing,
Braille music (approximately 2000 titles for sale, about 800 titles in lending library). And a centre
for aids for blind and partially-sighted people which offers about 1200 articles. The VzFB offers
tactile signs, maps and a system called "Integratives Leit- und Informationssystem", abbreviation
I.L.I.S., which is for the signing of rooms, public buildings, airports etc. The letters of these
signs could be read by normally sighted people as well as by visually handicapped people and they
could be felt by blind people.
