Activities: A private nonprofit agency that offers a variety of ways to promote independence by residential as well as community-based persons who are blind or partially sighted. Center-based classes for Day as well as Residential clients include: Activities of Daily Living (personal, home, and financial management); Braille; Assistive Technology such as use of computers and other equipment to support a wide variety of activities; Manual Skills to improve dexterity and increase self-confidence; and Orientation and Mobility for safe travel in residential as well as business areas. Also offers: low vision assessments to determine the extent of remaining sight and the devices that will maximize it; home- and community-based guidance and training; the sale of aids and appliances to enrich quality of life; information and referral; and consultation, workshops, and other tailored presentations on ways to promote independence for the blind and visually impaired.
