Activities: ICEVI is a voluntary non-govermental organization of professionals working in the field of education and rehabilitation of blind and visially impaired children; including those with additional disabilities. ICEVI carries out activities that promote equalization of educational opportunities for persons with visual impairment through its eight regional units (Africa, Asia, East Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America-Caribbean and Pacific). ICEVI works in cooperation with the United Nations and its specialised agencies. The ICEVI publication "The Educator" is produced semi-annually. Most regions produce their own regional newsletter. A world conference of ICEVI is held every five years with regional conferences between these quinquennial meetings.
