The problems of handling coins and paper currency vary from country to country. Unfortunately most paper notes are printed in pastel shades since they are harder to forge than primary colours. In many countries, the different denominations of notes are physically different in size; occasionally there are embossed markings but these tend to deteriorate if the note has been in circulation for some time.

Coins are easier to differentiate if handled singly in a warm environment; however, a more typical situation is that the blind person has a handful of mixed coins, is outdoors and in very poor lighting conditions; simple coin identifiers can be of use in this situation.

Right Money Gauge
