The largest single cause of blindness for those under the age of sixty in most developed countries is diabetic retinopathy, and most of the visually disabled population in developed countries are elderly. Therefore a significant portion of the visually disabled population are likely to be taking medication (eye drops, pills, insulin), and many of them find this difficult. Autoject 2
Autoject 2 has been specially designed for those who have difficulty injecting themselves manually with a syringe. At the touch of a button, Autoject 2 automatically inserts the needle and contents of the syringe into the skin without the user having to see the needle. Autopen
Autopen is different to other insulin pens because the insulin is delivered automatically by sliding a side mounted button instead of having to manually press a plunger. This means that whatever the dose size or needle gauge, it takes the same amount of minimal force every time to inject, without causing any unnecessary pressure or bruising at the injection site. In fact it requires up to 16 times less effort to inject the same volume of insulin than using a conventional pen with a plunger, making control easier and injections more comfortable. Autopen is compatible with most leading brands of pen needle including Unifine Pentips.
