Hardware heuristics

Summary

In total there are 103 checkpoints for the Hardware heuristic evaluation. 90 were applicable to this evaluation and 49% were tested against the results from the end user evaluation

Results broken down by Heuristic

Heuristic 1 (The product needs to be easy to orientate), has three checkpoints in total.  All three checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation although none were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 2 (The printed visual information needs to be clear) has six checkpoints in total.  All six checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation although none were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 3 (The non printed visual information needs to be clear) has six checkpoints in total.  Five checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation although none were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 4 (The buttons, switches, dials, and joysticks need to be easy to locate visually) has six checkpoints in total.  Three checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation with 66% being tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 5 (The buttons, switches, dials, and joysticks need to be easy to locate touch) has ten checkpoints in total.  Three checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and all were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 6 (The connectors, sockets, battery, battery compartment/back cover, SIM card holder, memory card and memory card holders need to be easy to locate by sight) has seven checkpoints in total.  All seven checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and all were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 7 (The connectors, sockets, battery, battery compartment/back cover, SIM card holder, memory cards, memory card slot need to be easy to locate by touch) has seven checkpoints in total.  All seven checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and all were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 8 (The other tactile information needs to be clear (texture/size/differences) has four checkpoints in total.  Three checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and 33% were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 9 (The audible information needs to be clear) has eight checkpoints in total.  All eight checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation although none were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 10 (The battery, SIM card and memory card must be easy to use) has eleven checkpoints in total.  All eleven checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and all were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 11 (The product needs to be physically easy to use) has eleven checkpoints in total.  All eleven checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and 45% were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 12 (Compatibility) has eight checkpoints in total.  All eight checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and 75% were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 13 (Instructions) has twelve checkpoints in total.  Eleven checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation and 18% were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.

Heuristic 14 (Packaging) has four checkpoints in total.  All four checkpoints were applicable to this evaluation although none were tested against the results from the end user evaluation.
