(External News) Guide Dogs launched screen-reading application for its blind workers

25 August 2009

Disability charity Guide Dogs has unveiled a new customer relationship management (CRM) system geared towards aiding its blind and partially-sighted employees.

The Iris Care system uses an embedded screen-reading application to help users within the charity navigate its customer records and could be rolled out to other charities, developer Iris NFP Solution states.

Jayne George, project sponsor and director of fundraising at Guide Dogs, said: "We're committed to expanding our services for blind and partially-sighted people and, in turn, we need to increase our fundraising over the next five years.

"The Iris Care system is going to be our platform for this."

The charity supports some 4,600 guide dog partnerships across the UK at any one time and employs more than 10,000 voluntary puppy walkers, dog boarders and fundraisers, its website states.
