Scope: The Foundation aims to support a broad cross-section of
national charities doing work of practical significance in the following
4 categories:· Medical and Disability (including preventive medicine,
organisations tackling specific medical conditions, care and support,
physical and learning disability, mental illness);· Community Development
and Social Welfare (including children, youth work, substance abuse, housing
and homelessness, disadvantaged people and communities);· Arts
(the performing and visual arts, historic buildings and museums); and
Conservation (of the natural environment).
Type of awards available: Grants
Restrictions: Only charities with a UK office will be considered.
Applications from individuals and local charities will not be considered. If an application has previously been rejected, allow 2 years before re-submitting.
Method of research fund allocation: Letters of application are studied by
the Appeals Manager and at least one Trustee who recommend to the
full Board. Staff and/or Trustees visit applicants. A final decision is reached by the Board of Trustees.
Submission of applications: A letter stating funding needs should be sent to the Appeals Manager at the above address. If successful, a full application form should be completed either electronically or in printed format. There are no deadlines for receiving applications.

Scope: The Foundation supports a programme of research and development
in the fields of housing, social care and social policy. Most of the projects
funded fall under two permanent committees (poverty and disadvantage, housing
and neighbourhoods) and a number of fixed-term single-programme committees
include: drugs and alcohol; immigration and inclusion; independent living;
parenting, and governance.
Type of awards available: Funding for research and development projects which have the capacity to change policy or practice for the better.
Restrictions: UK applications only. No re-submissions for rejected applicants. Applications are only accepted in response to specific calls.
Method of research fund allocation: Project summary and proposal are
considered by the Committee who make recommendations to the Trustees.
Submission of applications: Applications are only accepted in response to specific calls and should be submitted in accordance with the guidelines - a hard copy of the Summary, Proposal Registration Form and Proposal should be submitted before 2pm on the date of the deadline to the person specified in the call for proposals.
