Scope: The Yapp Charitable Trust makes small grants, for running costs and salaries, to small charities in the U.K. to help sustain their existing work. We make grants to small charities for work with: elderly people; children and young people aged 5 - 25; people with disabilities.
Types of awards available: Small grants, for running costs and salaries for small charities. At present the Trust is not inviting medical and scientific research proposals.
Restrictions: Applying charities registered in England and Wales must have their own Charity Commission registration number or be exempt. Also the applying charity must have been constituted and operating for at least three years. Grants are only for small charities whose  annual expenditure is less than £60,000. The charitys' work must be within the Trust's charitable objects. Applications will only be accepted once every year for previous applicants. Current grant-holders may make a new application when their grant is coming to an end. If the Trust refused your last application you must wait a year before applying again.
Method of research fund allocation: The Trustees meet three times a year to discuss applications.
Submission of applications: A simple application form is obtainable from the above address. It will be sent to you, along with the most recent guidelines.
Example of current research activities: Cornerstone Project - £3,000 towards salary costs of advocacy for vulnerable young people in Stoke on Trent. Family Tree Wirral - £2,000 towards running costs of supporting the carers of people with severe mental health problems. Selby District Advocacy - £4,500 over 3 years towards admin costs of a rural advocacy service working with disabled and elderly people.
