 11 Computing checklists

11.1 Introduction

This section provides an example of concrete guidelines for one specific domain of ICT: computing. These guidelines are presented as checklists in matrix format.

The matrix has nine columns. The first column is the checkpoint itself. The other eight columns state the degree of relevance of the checkpoint in relation to different impairments.

The following list of impairments have been used:

  • P: Persons with physical impairments
  • SP: Persons with severe physical impairments
  • V: Persons with impaired vision (including colour blindness)
  • B: Blind persons
  • H: Persons with slight to moderate hearing impairments
  • D: Deaf (Persons with profound to severe hearing impairments)
  • C: Persons with cognitive impairments
  • O: Other (inc. left handed, different language, ...)

The degree of relevance is represented as follows:

no significant problems  no significant problems
minor problems  minor problems
moderate problems  moderate problems
severe problems  severe problems

The checklists have been divided into five sections:

Hardware: computer system

Hardware: peripherals

Software: operating system

Software: applications
